Ever taken a backlit image, and just given it up for useless? Or better yet, tried to fix it using other programs, but just found that nothing seems to work? Image Rescue can recover the image for you!

ImageRescue has the following functions:

- Brighten: recovers backlit images, as shown in the picture of people in snow below.
- Darken: The opposite of brighten. Images where the sky has been completely blown out, for instance, by taking an image of something in the shadows, or in the case of the boy jumping in the puddle, just a way to enhance contrast.
- Equalize: a combination of Brighten and Darken, run simultaneously to recover as much detail and color as possible.
- Denoise Fast: recovers extremely noisy images. If you took an image in dim light, then this can try to recover detail while removing noise.
- Denoise Slow: For those images that have been drastically affected by noise. This algorithm is much slower, but the results are more aggressive. Patience is definitely a virtue with this one. The sleeping boy below was processed with slow denoising.
- Splotchify: a just for fun feature, this processing mode converts the image into its watercolor counterpart. I find it works best on landscape images, as with the graveyard below.
